R. Preston Mason, Ph.D.Member, Scientific Advisory Board

Dr. Mason is a member of the Cardiovascular Division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is also President and co-Founder of Elucida Research LLC, a biotechnology company in Beverly, Massachusetts. Dr. Mason received a full scholarship at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington (MD/PhD degree program), where he went on to complete two fellowships funded by the American Heart Association as well as a research fellowship by the John A. Hartford Foundation.

Dr. Mason has served on numerous grant review committees for the National Institutes of Health. Over the past 25 years, he has been the recipient of federal grants as well as awards for his research in cardiovascular pharmacology and teaching, including an honorary doctorate in science. Prior to coming to Boston, he served on the faculties of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine).

Dr. Mason has authored or coauthored more than 250 book chapters, abstracts, and articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been a reviewer for a number of prestigious journals and has multiple patents. He is a frequently invited speaker at national and international conferences having presented in over 40 countries. His research has utilized nanotechnology approaches to advance new insights into cardiovascular pharmacology and membrane biophysics.
